About jr
Born and raised in eastern North Carolina, I grew up in an old two-story house my mom and stepdad rented till my late teens. The old farmhouse was surrounded by corn and tobacco fields and a small forest haven. I spent my formative years hidden in those trees and walking the old loop road with friends. All my happiest memories feature that old blue house and my grandma’s porch.
Writing is intensely private for me, and I never expected to share my work with anyone. I write for my own enjoyment and never thought of myself as an author. The people and places I found in my mind were a way for me to escape to a world within my control.
Most of my time is spent in the eastern part of the state with family and friends. We enjoy spending time in the Blue Ridge Mountains and escape there whenever possible. We do some traveling and I highly recommend Jamacia.
I have spent the last twenty years in corporate America, which has provided the life we live. Any free time that I have is devoted to revisiting the world I have crafted for myself. I am anxious to see where the path leads.
I met the man I would marry April Fool’s Day in 1994. Unfortunately, I thought his request for a date was a joke and blew him off. After a few years of getting it wrong apart, we found each other again and married on Halloween in 2003. We live today not two miles from my childhood home with our two dogs and our free-range chickens.
